How Affordable Pellets got started. Brian went to a renewable energy fair with a friend just to look at different "Green energy stuff". At the fair, he met Mike & Connie Severson who were starting up a wood pellet mill in Hayward, Wisconsin, with some other loggers. They were looking for small private businesses to retail their line of heating and animal bedding pellets. Their company motto is "The Friendly Company" and they were specifically trying to stay away from big chain stores and work with small business people interested in selling quality products. They asked if he would be interested in becoming a dealer of their line of wood pellets. After a few phone conversations, said yes. He borrowed a forklift from some friends and got the first load of pellets in the fall of 2008.
